Women’s Soccer Team wins 2008 NJCAA National Championships
The BCC women’s soccer team won their second consecutive national title at the NJCAA Division III Women’s Soccer National Championship in Richland, Texas on Sunday, November 9, 2008. They defeated Ocean City College of New Jersey 2-1 in the final round. Marisa Corson scored the first goal for BCC and Brenna Campbell scored the winning goal. Broome advanced to the final round by defeating Holyoke CC (MA) in a 4-0 shutout in the semi-finals. Tori Matt led the scoring in that game with two goals. Macy Davis and Callie Karl scored a goal each in the win. Goalie Alicia Sagendorf made eight saves to preserve her twelfth shutout of the 2008 season.
BCC is the first team in over ten years to win back-to-back NJCAA Division III Women’s Soccer titles; Brevard Community College from Florida won in 1996 and 1997. "Winning one national championship is a dream," said 12-year coach Bill Rich. "Winning two in a row is almost unbelievable. I don't know what to say, it's an amazing thing."
Katie Schild was named Most Valuable Player of the Tournament and for the second year in a row, Coach Rich was named Coach of the Tournament.

Since its first year of competition in 1995, BCC women's soccer has grown to be one of the top women's soccer programs in Region III. The Lady Hornets have won five MSAC Conference titles and made seven straight appearances in the Regional tournament. The team competes in the Mid-State Athletic Conference and the NJCAA Region III Conference.
Local talent makes up the majority of the team but we reach throughout New York and nearby Pennsylvania for quality student-athletes. The Lady Hornets play a strong schedule and will continue to add to BCC's long tradition of success.
